What is Auto – Hypnosis or Self – Hypnosis?
This is a self induced state of hypnosis or trance. The
techniques for achieving this state can be learned.
A qualified hypnotherapist would be the best person
to learn from. Once learned, auto-hypnosis is an
extremely useful ‘self-help’ skill
to have and use throughout one’s life.
Can Everyone be Hypnotised?
Most people can be hypnotised if they want to be,
providing they understand the instructions they
are given. It would be difficult to hypnotise someone
against their will, as cooperation between the
subject and hypnotist is needed.
All age groups can benefit, including children.
What does a Hypnotherapist do?
A hypnotherapist enables the subject to enter the
trance state called hypnosis. During hypnosis,
the therapist will help the subject to make beneficial
changes in the way (s)he feels, thinks about and
behaves regarding a specific issue in their life.
What will happen during a session of Hypnotherapy?
To enable you to relax, the hypnotherapist may ask
you to focus your attention – perhaps on
your breathing, or on the sound of his / her voice,
or may ask you to visualise something calming or
pleasant. This will help you to slow down your
brainwaves and to feel relaxed and comfortable.
You will not usually fall asleep but experience a
tranquil state, whilst hearing what the therapist
is saying. All you need to do is to let yourself
relax and concentrate on the sound of your hypnotherapist’s
voice.
You will not lose control and the hypnotherapist
cannot make you say or do anything you don’t
want to.
During hypnosis your unconscious mind will only accept
suggestions that will be beneficial to you and reject
suggestions that are not in your interest. A successful
outcome depends on a high level of trust between
you and the therapist.
At the end of the session the therapist will give
you some suggestions to return to your normal waking
state.
Do you guarantee that Hypnotherapy will work?
Hypnotherapy is not a miracle cure. Anyone wishing
to make changes in their life, should realise that
it requires commitment and an acceptance of personal
responsibility to be successful. If you really
want to make the change and you are prepared to
do what it takes, then Hypnotherapy can help to
liberate and empower you, enabling you to maximise
your inner potential for success.

shows that by using HYPNOSIS, people
can perform prodigious feats of will
power and self healing.” -

Why do people do outrageous things during Stage Hypnosis?
These people volunteer because they have some degree of desire to perform on
stage. Hypnosis enables them to lift the inhibitions which would normally hold
them back.
Is Hypnotherapy dangerous?
When Hypnotherapy is carried out by a properly trained
and qualified Hypnotherapist , it is a safe, drug-free
and rapid way to release your full potential and
gain the results you are seeking. As with any kind
of therapy, or treatment, it is advisable to seek
help from a reputable, qualified, professional
therapist. Always check credentials.
During the 1950’s, both the British Medical
Association and the American Medical Association
approved Hypnotherapy as a Valid Medical Treatment.
How will I feel during Hypnosis?
It is likely that you will feel pleasantly
drowsy. Some people have a floating sensation,
whilst others feel as if they are sinking
comfortably into the chair and experience
a feeling of heaviness. At the same time,
your mind can become more acutely aware of
your surroundings and of issues that you
want to deal with, but in a way that is calming
and more easily accessible and productive
than in the normal waking state.
Will I tell my secrets in Trance?
No, you are always in control and cannot be
pushed into giving any information you do
not wish to.
If you choose to discuss a sensitive or personal
issue, your therapist would normally respect
your confidentiality, unless there is a risk
of serious harm to others.
Can I become “stuck” in
hypnosis?
No. Just as you can allow your mind and body to relax
into trance, so you can allow yourself to return
to your normal waking state whenever you wish.
Sometimes, especially when practising at home,
you may drift off to sleep and wake normally a
little later.
It is usual to feel refreshed and to experience a
sense of well-being when you return to your normal
waking state.
